Field School Evening Program: Fossil Station Museum and The Avenue of History

331 Kansas Street and 825 N. Kansas, Russell, KS.

Introduced by Pauline Hintz

Both museums will be open to us. Suggest starting at the Fossil Station Museum.

Operated by the Russell County Historical Society, The Fossil Station Museum was built in 1907 and was originally the county jail, sheriff’s office, and living quarters. Rooms display educational settings of artifacts used or created by Russell County residents from the mid-1800’s to the present. Just a two minute drive up the street, The Avenue of History Museum features exhibits on early farming, transportation, and education in the region.
